A technical meeting on the work of the IAEA permanent monitoring mission at the Rivne NPP was held

At the Rivne NPP, a technical meeting was held on the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Permanent Monitoring Missions (PMMs).

IAEA PMM experts, representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Committee and the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate at the RNPP site, as well as management and representatives of the plant subdivisions attended the meeting.

The IAEA permanent monitoring missions at Ukrainian nuclear power plants were set to monitor the state of nuclear and radiation safety and security at NPPs in the context of russian military aggression against Ukraine. The missions include international experts – highly qualified specialists in the field of nuclear energy from IAEA member states. The Agency missions were deployed at all Ukrainian NPPs in response to Ukraine’s official request.

The work of the IAEA PMM consists of monitoring compliance with seven fundamental principles of nuclear safety and security, as well as providing technical recommendations and information, and exchanging experience.

“In the current war conditions, the work of the IAEA Permanent Monitoring Missions is extremely important. I am convinced that, in order to further constructive cooperation, the specialists of the RNPP will continue to be actively engaged in a professional dialogue with the IAEA representatives on all the issues important for nuclear and radiation safety,” said Andrii Horoshanskyi, Deputy Head of Operational Safety Department – State Inspector of State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate.

“Since the beginning of the work of the IAEA Permanent Mission at the RNPP site, fruitful and meaningful interaction has been established with experts from the international organization. We express our gratitude to the IAEA specialists for their support, interest, and expert communication. The RNPP is open to considering all comments and suggestions. We will continue to increase our focus on interaction in order to get the best results in cooperation,” Valerii Kovalchuk, Deputy Chief Engineer for Technology and Engineering of the RNPP, emphasized.

The meeting on a number of other important issues, including the 2025 repair campaign, an assessment of the overall state of preparedness and response at the RNPP.
