NNEGC “Energoatom” continues to conduct career guidance events and introduce future nuclear workers to the industry. Employees of the Emergency Technical Center invited students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), who are studying in the specialty “Nuclear Power Engineering,” for an introductory tour.
During the visit to the site of Emergency Technical Center, specialists of the separate subdivision demonstrated how they ensure the highest level of readiness for any challenges. The youth observed the work of specialists managing robotic systems for radiation surveillance, learned about methods of data collection, and monitoring in areas where access is restricted for safety reasons.
In addition, students familiarized themselves with the specifics of the diving service responsible for monitoring the condition of NPP hydraulic structures, inspecting water intakes, and maintenance of underwater communications.
Particular attention was paid to practical skills. First aid algorithms were demonstrated to the attendees on special simulators, and everyone interested could try to save the life of a “victim.”
Vadym Kondratyuk, a professor at the Department of KPI Department of Nuclear Power Engineering, emphasized that effective training of personnel for the nuclear industry could not be possible without a direct dialogue between the university and the employer. Joint initiatives of Energoatom and higher educational institutions help student integrate into the professional environment even before obtaining their qualifications.
“We maintain close cooperation with Energoatom’s Executive Directorate for Personnel. Moreover, we managed to develop a program allowing students to work at power industry enterprises as early as their 4th year,” said Vadym Kondratyuk.
Emergency Technical Center emphasizes that cooperation with specialized higher education institutions is one of the priority areas of Energoatom’s personnel policy.
