1On September 17, the final stage of the 18th Scientific Paper Competition for young employees of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” took place. The event brought together specialists under the age of 35 from the Company’s Directorate and branches.

At the initial stage, Energoatom’s young professionals presented and defended their papers at the Company’s branches. The winners then advanced to the final stage.

Bohdan Shmyhelskyi, Executive Director for Human Resources at JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, congratulated the finalists and commented that participation in the competition provides an opportunity to promote nuclear energy and is also an important step in career development: “Everyone who is here today is already a winner.”

Ihor Kurinnyi, Acting Managing Technical Director of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”,emphasized that the competition should serve as a springboard for implementing the solutions presented by Energoatom’s young employees, as the papers represent not only scientific work but also the generation of new ideas that can be put into practice.

Serhii Snitkov, Chair of Energoatom’s Primary Trade Union Organization, praised the high level of preparation demonstrated by the Company’s young professionals and the relevance of the topics presented, which have potential for further improvement.

Traditionally, the Scientific Paper Competition was held in two categories: production and social and trade union. Ten finalists competed for first place in the two categories.

The winners in the production category were:

• 1st place – Serhii Tarar, Class 3 Motor Vehicle Driver, Transport Department, Khmelnytskyi NPP, with the paper: “Recovery of hydraulic power in NPP pumping systems using hydraulic turbines”;
• 2nd place was shared by two participants – Alina Murenko, Grade 4 Chemical Analysis Laboratory Technician, Gas and Oil Group, Chemical Department/Water and Radiochemistry Laboratory, South Ukraine NPP, with the paper: “Evaporator bottom residue as a hidden threat: the challenge of accumulation and storage limits at the South Ukraine NPP”, and Daniil Hrytsayenko, Category 1 Specialist, Healthcare Sector, Affiliate SS “Emergency and Technical Center”, with the paper: “Simulation-based training complex for quadcopter operators”;
• 3rd place was also shared by two participants – Yurii Chuiko, Group VI Electrician for Testing and Measurements, Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Electrical Equipment Repair and Maintenance Department, Affiliate SS “Atomremontservice”, with the paper: “Diagnostics of cable lines using non-destructive testing methods”, and Yuliia Savchuk, Software Engineer, Information Technology Service, Rivne NPP, with the paper: “Concept for information support in managing critical tacit knowledge”.

The winners in the social and trade union category were:

• 1st place – Maksym Postupalskyi, Journalist, Public and Media Relations Department, Content Creation and Distribution Group, South Ukraine NPP, with the paper: “Digitalization of NPP career guidance: creating a pre-onboarding ecosystem for secondary school pupils”;
• 2nd place – Nataliia Fedina, Category 2 Psychologist, Personnel Development Department, Rivne NPP, with the paper: “Media literacy as a component of corporate security”;
• 3rd place – Mykhailo Mykhalets, Economist, Contract Department, KhmelnytskyiNPP, with the paper: “Developing a veteran policy at critical infrastructure enterprises”.

The winners and runners-up received cash awards from JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”.
