On July 8, Energoatom's head, Petro Kotin, met with experts from the French company Orano, one of the world's leading companies in uranium mining and processing, uranium conversion, enrichment, and spent nuclear fuel reprocessing, at the Energoatom office.
Orano's delegation arrived in Ukraine to visit one of the mines of the SE “Eastern Mining and Processing Plant” (EMPP) to familiarize themselves with production facilities, technical aspects, and partnership opportunities.
Petro Kotin stated that Energoatom is interested in enhancing EMPP's capabilities, as the uranium concentrate produced at Ukrainian mines is supplied to CAMECO in full for conversion into natural uranium hexafluoride to meet Energoatom's needs.
“Increasing domestic uranium production will help ensure our energy security. Ukraine is interested in partnering with a French company that has the relevant experience and expertise in expanding capacities,” said Petro Kotin.
