Pavlo Kovtonyuk, Acting CEO of NNEGC “Energoatom,” participated in a roundtable titled “Prospective Role of the Dnipropetrovsk Region in the Development of Nuclear Energy in Ukraine.” The event, organized by the Ukrainian Nuclear Society, was focused on the prospects of involving Dnipropetrovsk region enterprises in the implementation of new nuclear projects.

Despite the war, Ukrainian nuclear power sector continues to operate steadily: the maintenance campaign is underway; preparations for the development of new capacities are being conducted, and new manufacturing base for the industry is being formed.

According to Pavlo Kovtonyuk, following the refusal of russian technologies and supplies, Ukraine is moving to the next stage – the establishment of domestic production chain for the nuclear sector.

“We have already passed the difficult stage of phasing out russian technologies and components. Our next task is to form a Ukrainian production chain for the nuclear industry and involve national enterprises to the maximum extent,” he noted.

This is not only about electric power generation. Ukraine is gradually forming a full cycle of operations – from the manufacture of equipment and spare parts to service, logistics, repairs, and engineering. Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region can become one of the key industrial hubs.

“Energoatom is open to cooperation with Ukrainian manufactures, businesses and regions. Localization of the production process is not just about energy. It refers to new competencies, jobs, and the foundation for the country’s post-war economic development,” emphasized Pavlo Kovtonyuk.
