At the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 venue in Gdansk, a meeting was held between representatives of the governments of the USA, Poland, and Ukraine, the management of the American company Westinghouse and the heads of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe and JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”. The parties discussed current and future cooperation, specifically regarding the construction of new capacities.

Ukraine has become the first nation in Europe to conclude an agreement with Westinghouse for the construction of new capacities. The agreements provide for the construction of nine power units using American Technology.

According to the Acting CEO of Energoatom Pavlo Kovtonyuk, NNEGC has significant experience of partnership with the American company. Notably, Ukrainian NPPs have been switched to Westinghouse fuel. This step will significantly strengthen energy security and enhance the independence of our state.

An equally important stage is the construction of new capacities using AP1000 technology – the first units will be built at the Khmelnytskyi NPP site. According to the company’s head, Ukraine already has clear technical framework for the implementation of this project. Therefore, the cooperation with Westinghouse will continue to deepen.
