Zaporizhzhia NPP power unit 6 marks its 30th anniversary

main

Thirty years ago, on October 19, Zaporizhzhia NPP unit 6 was connected to the grid. It was the first unit completed and commissioned during Ukraine's independence and is the youngest at ZNPP.

Unfortunately, since March 2022, Europe's largest nuclear power plant, ZNPP, has been under russian occupation: it has been destroyed and turned into a military base. Plant staff loyal to Ukraine were forced to relocate to state-controlled territory or were taken prisoner, where they are subjected to severe pressure and torture.

Years of successful operation have been replaced by years of profound degradation. During the occupation, the plant has already experienced 10 blackouts. The latest, which began on September 23 this year, is still ongoing.

As long as the nuclear power plant remains under russian occupation, the entire world is under the potential threat of nuclear and radiation danger.

Nevertheless, the time will come when the anniversary power unit and the remaining five power units of Zaporizhzhia NPP will return to Ukraine's control and generate electricity for the domestic power grid.

ZNPP was, is, and will remain Ukrainian!
