The event took place on November 6 in Kyiv. The Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (KNEU Disinformation Counteraction Laboratory) organized it. The round table gathered professors from leading Ukrainian universities, experts in countering disinformation, communications specialists, and representatives of Ukrainian ministries and government agencies (the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Culture).
A key topic was information attacks on critical state infrastructure. Energoatom representatives shared examples of russian propaganda that targets and discredits the Ukrainian nuclear industry.
It was emphasized that russia, using artificial intelligence tools in particular, systematically generates and disseminates fake news about the “dangerous operation” of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, alleged accidents, and radiation incidents. Such falsehoods are intended to spread panic in society and cause distrust of management decisions within the industry.
The participants paid special attention to the issues of media literacy and the need to implement relevant educational programs in Ukrainian universities as one of the key tools for protecting society from hostile information influences.
Such events are an important platform for exchanging experience, forming common approaches, and developing effective mechanisms to counter disinformation.
