Over 13,000 military personnel in two years: NNEGC volunteers implement psychological recovery programs for defenders

On March 5, Energoatom hosted a round table on two years of work in the psychological recovery program for military personnel. Attendees included Pavlo Kovtonyuk, Acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC Energoatom”, Olena Donchuk, Head of the NGO “Guards of Light”, Hanna Zayets, Head of the NNEGC Head Office Trade Union, representatives from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military psychologists, and executives from the Energy of Atom Charity Foundation.

Members of the NGO “Guards of Light” launched the program in 2024 with the support of the company. The Main Directorate of Personnel Psychological Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the State Border Service, and the “OMEGA” Special Operations Center of Ukraine also joined in its implementation.

Pavlo Kovtonyuk noted the importance of this initiative and the contribution of the Energoatom team: “I would like to thank our volunteers for organizing the process of restoring the psychological state of the defenders. This is very effective work. Such initiatives need to be supported.”

Olena Donchuk stated that the psychological support program for defenders is truly unique in its scale, as it has benefited 13,255 military personnel since its inception. “There is no resource more valuable to Ukraine than human resources. It is the most difficult to restore, so it is important to support our defenders not only with the resources they need on the front lines, but also emotionally,” she added.

The program was later expanded to include the Family initiative, as the participation of loved ones is a crucial element of military rehabilitation. Since its inception, 706 families have received assistance.

Colonel Oleksandr Tytarenko, head of the Armed Forces' psychological support department, thanked Energoatom and the company's volunteers for implementing the initiative. “Those military personnel who went through the program with their families felt even more supported. The opportunity to involve relatives helps not only to increase the effectiveness of psychological recovery, but also to improve family ties,” he said.

The Family Comfort program was created to support the families of defenders who went missing, were captured, or died while performing combat missions. It has already covered nearly 350 families.

“Most defenders go to the front to protect their families. So we are aware of our responsibility and do everything we can to ensure that families do not lose trust in us,” stressed Tetyana Finogeyeva, a member of the Energy of Atom Charity Foundation.

Military psychologists note that participation in such programs contributes to their professional development, as they have the opportunity to work with defenders not only in the military but also outside of it, and to support the families of military personnel.

The management of Energoatom, volunteers from the NGO “Guards of Light”, and the Energy of the Atom Charity Foundation emphasized that psychological resilience programs will continue in the future, as it is extremely important for Ukrainian defenders and their families to feel our support.
