On September 24, 2025, the Pivdennoukrainsk town council unanimously authorized a proposal to establish a Technological Complex for manufacturing fuel assemblies in the town. The National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” will execute the project.
The initiative, launched by Energoatom, is of strategic importance for Ukraine. Its implementation will enable to:
- strengthen the country's energy independence;
- reduce dependence on nuclear fuel imports;
- stimulate the local community economic development.
The town council's decision was made possible by public hearings held in April 2024 and a positive expert opinion received in August 2024. The local authorities' support for the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the location, design, and construction of a nuclear facility for manufacturing fuel assemblies for nuclear reactors at nuclear power plants” demonstrates the community's responsible position on the development of the national nuclear energy sector.
During the session, deputies emphasized the importance of implementing this project for both the state and the local economy. It is expected to create new jobs, develop infrastructure, and increase the region's investment attractiveness.
The signed decision of the session will be sent to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
