Members of Parliament visited the industrial facilities of the South Ukraine Energy Complex, in particular the Tashlyk HPSPP, the main purpose of which is to produce electricity to cover morning and evening consumption peaks, as well as the use of excess energy generated at night. The Tashlyk HPSPP facilitates to balance peak demands and maintain backup power, which contributes to the steady operation of the Ukrainian energy system.
People’s Deputies emphasized the urgent need for maneuvering capacities; these are necessary to ensure stable energy supply during peak loads, but were practically destroyed by occupiers in 2022.️
Another important step towards strengthening energy security is the implementation of the import substitution program for NPP components previously supplied from abroad, as well as the nuclear fuel diversification program. During their visit to the South Ukraine NPP, the deputies got acquainted with the progress of both programs at one of the Company branches. They positively assessed the process of establishing fuel assembly manufacture in Ukraine.
According to Anatolii Kostiukh, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Safety, nuclear industry has received a global stimulus today; the World Bank supports its development. Therefore, the nuclear energy market will continue to develop, and Energoatom, including its branches, has all the prerequisites to confidently enter this market – with competitive, high quality and affordable services.
