On March 12, the Khmelnytskyi NPP, an affiliate of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, conducted a plant-wide emergency drill. The exercise aimed to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the Emergency Plan, focusing specifically on coordination with government bodies, external institutions and organizations.
The drill assessed the readiness of the KhNPP management, operational personnel, engineering support and emergency teams to respond to accidents or emergencies. Representatives of Emergency Technical Center, another affiliate of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, also participated in the event.
According to the scenario, the teams simulated an accident at the NPP site caused by a military emergency. Personnel practiced actions to localize and eliminate potential consequences.
The training followed a combined format, incorporating: desktop exercises based on established schemes, practical drills using emergency response equipment both on and off the power plant site, and operations on full-scope and analytical simulators.
Such training is a vital component of maintaining high readiness among NPP personnel and the emergency response system for actions in emergencies. These drills improve coordination between NPP departments, government authorities, and civil protection services, while enhancing the safety of the critical infrastructure facility.
