From June 4–7, approximately 50 young professionals, researchers, and students from across Ukraine gathered at the Rivne NPP to discuss the prospects for the development of the nuclear industry. The Ukrainian Nuclear Society, with the support of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” and its affiliate “SS RNPP,” organized the Youth Nuclear Forum.

Participants were divided into seven teams that worked on finding solutions to current challenges in nuclear energy. Project topics included the localization of production for new construction, the integration of nuclear power plants into the power grid, safety amid modern threats, the development of digital infrastructure, human resources in the industry, and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies.

The participants presented their solutions during the final session. A competition committee headed by Energoatom CEO Pavlo Kovtonyuk, who noted the high level of preparation and creativity of the young nuclear professionals, evaluated them.

“The topics of this year’s challenges are relevant to the entire global nuclear community. It is gratifying to see that our young people demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking and propose interesting solutions even under tight deadlines,” said Pavlo Kovtonyuk.

He emphasized that Energoatom consistently invests in youth development and the training of future personnel for the industry.

Forum participants noted it as an important platform for professional development, knowledge exchange, and teamwork. In addition to case studies, teams created videos as part of the “Nuclear Myth Busters” project to debunk common misconceptions about nuclear energy.

The forum once again confirmed that the Ukrainian nuclear industry has strong human resource potential and that the younger generation is ready to contribute to its development and meet future challenges.
