Like the members of the previous team, the newly arrived specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency will stay at the SUNPP for three weeks. They will continue monitoring nuclear and radiation safety, recording the real situation at the nuclear power plant under martial law.

Members of both rotation teams, representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate and the South Ukraine NPP met during the kick-off meeting to exchange views, summarize the results and agree on further actions. “Our main attention was certainly paid to the operation of the South Ukraine NPP under martial law. During our work, not a single incident was recorded that would make us bring safe and reliable operation of the plant into question. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your cooperation and hospitality, and emphasize that the mission representatives will be on duty as long as the IAEA’s assistance is needed at your site,” concluded the head of the 48th IAEA mission.

“Unfortunately, while the war is going on, the IAEA mission will continue. Its experts will keep on monitoring the consequences of the aggressor’s actions, which will pose a threat to the operation of the South Ukraine NPP. The observers will continue to timely report information both to the central office of the International Atomic Energy Agency and to the world community,” noted Boris Mikitkov, SUNPP Deputy Chief Engineer for Life Extension, Technology and Engineering.
