From April 20 to May 1, an inspection was conducted at the site of the affiliate “SS “Atomremontservice” to verify compliance with legislation, standards, and regulations regarding nuclear and radiation safety, physical protection of nuclear facilities, radioactive waste, accounting and control of nuclear materials during the construction and commissioning life cycle phases of the CSFSF.

On May 12, at a meeting of the Board of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, the Conclusion of the State Expert Review of Nuclear and Radiation Safety for the document “Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility. Final Safety Analysis Report” was approved, having recognized the feasibility of the CSFSF safe operation.

The Final Safety Analysis Report is a key document supporting Energoatom’s application for a license for the “Operation of the CSFSF Nuclear Facility” life cycle phase.

As a reminder, the 50th spent nuclear fuel container was recently installed at the CSFSF. Ukraine’s own facility, built with US Holtec technology, saves about $200 million annually. Previously, spent fuel was sent to the russian federation.
