On May 15, Pavlo Kovtonyuk, the head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, met with senior pupils of the “Dominanta” Lyceum in Kyiv in an Edutainment format – a combination of education and interactive entertainment. The event was also supported by the NGO “Ukrainian Nuclear Society” (UkrNS).
More than 130 students learned how Ukraine’s nuclear energy sector operates, which professions are currently the most in demand in the industry, and what opportunities can be offered by a career in the energy sector. The event was held as part of vocational guidance initiatives aimed at promoting technical and engineering professions among young people.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that Ukraine has significant potential for the development of nuclear energy and every opportunity to strengthen its position as one of Europe’s key energy hubs. To achieve this, the industry needs a new generation of highly qualified professionals.
“We wish Ukrainian youth to see prospects of professional fulfillment here in Ukraine. Today, Energoatom is developing its own production facilities, implementing modern technologies, and working to strengthen the country’s energy independence. That is why the industry needs young engineers, technical specialists, and people who are ready to work on major projects of the future,” Pavlo Kovtonyuk noted.
The head of Energoatom also spoke about opportunities for young people, including internship programs, support for students of specialized educational institutions, and employment prospects within the company.
During the event, Energoatom specialists demonstrated mock-ups of a nuclear power unit, a fuel assembly, and a fuel pellet to the students, and conducted a virtual tour of a nuclear power plant using VR headsets. The most active participants of the meeting received branded gifts from the company.
