Energoatom and WANO Paris Center: course to strengthen support for Ukrainian NPPs in 2026

On January 27, 2026, Oleksandr Ostapovets, Inspector General – Director for Safety, Acting Board Member of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, met with the management of the Paris Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators during the Annual Member Meeting.

Within the scope of the meeting, the parties discussed WANO’s support for Energoatom and ways to reinforce it. Particular attention was paid to the results of the WANO-style self-evaluation, completed at the South Ukraine, Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs at the end of 2025.

Moreover, in 2026, Energoatom will begin implementing enhanced Performance Monitoring (ePM) at three Ukrainian NPPs. The project will be accomplished within the constraints set by martial law.

At the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to strengthen relationship between Energoatom and the WANO Paris Centre.

In turn, WPC Governing Board emphasized its support for the operator of Ukrainian NPPs and the launch of a number of new initiatives during 2026.
