On the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, Acting CEO of the JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Pavlo Kovtonyuk and ŠKODA JS Director General Karel Bednář signed a Memorandum for Cooperation aimed at advancing their strategic partnership in the nuclear energy sector.
The Memorandum provides for expanded cooperation across several key areas, including the construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear power units at Ukrainian NPPs; scientific and technical collaboration in the field of peaceful application of nuclear energy; implementation of projects to enhance nuclear safety, as well as the refurbishment and modernization of nuclear power facilities; and joint efforts in spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste management.
"Enhancing engagement with leading European companies of the industry is an important element of the continued development of Ukraine's nuclear energy sector. The memorandum opens up new opportunities for deploying advanced technologies, exchanging expertise, and implementing joint projects that will enhance the safety, reliability and efficiency of Ukraine's nuclear power plants. One of the most valuable aspects of this partnership is that we are building a partnership focused not only on addressing the industry's current demands, but also on its long-term development and Ukraine's post-war recovery", said Pavlo Kovtonyuk.
The Memorandum marks another step ahead to strengthening Energoatom's international partnerships and advancing Ukraine's nuclear energy sector as an integral part of the European energy landscape.
