Pavlo Kovtoniuk, Head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, and Ihor Krivtsun, Director of the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation.
The partnership is aimed at engaging scientific expertise, providing support for the safe operation of NPP units and other nuclear energy facilities, extending the service life of reactor installations, substantiating and implementing new nuclear power unit projects (including AP1000 and small modular reactor technology), among other areas.
As Pavlo Kovtoniuk noted, Ukraine has experienced specialists and a strong body of scientific expertise, making it important to leverage this potential to promote advanced technologies and strengthen Ukraine’s energy independence.
According to Ihor Krivtsun, the signed agreement provides an opportunity to jointly find solutions to enhance the reliability and efficiency of nuclear power plant operations, advance Ukraine’s nuclear power industry, and introduce new developments.
