Truth Hounds, in cooperation with representatives of Energoatom, the Center for Civil Liberties, the Association of Relatives of Kremlin Political Prisoners, Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group, as well as the local authorities of Energodar, took part in the third meeting of the working group on coordinating efforts to support residents of Energodar and employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP illegally detained or in action as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation.
During the meeting, the participants discussed updating the lists of imprisoned residents of Energodar, including employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, providing legal assistance to families who had lost contact with their family members, as well as preparing appeals to international institutions.
For the moment, at least 30 people have been illegally detained – those are employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and residents of the NPP satellite town.
Chief Consultant to Head of Energoatom, Viacheslav Huba, emphasized that the Company was working every day to ensure that the captured ZNPP employees and their families would not be left alone with the tragedy. For this purpose, NNEGC has introduced a program to support the families of illegally detained workers; within the framework of this program, they are paid monthly financial assistance.
Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin, stated that supporting the prisoners and their families in the current conditions of the ruscist occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is one of the moral obligations and main tasks of the Company. He emphasized the need to unite the efforts of the nuclear community and a wide range of partners not indifferent to the fate of those people.
