JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” is implementing agreements with Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB regarding the localization of production of components used in fuel assemblies.
SS “Atomenergomash” (AEM) has received the necessary materials for the manufacture of the first batch of bottom nozzles for VVER-1000 fuel assemblies. The production period for the batch is four months.
Components manufactured at Ukrainian facilities will be used in the fuel production for Ukrainian NPPs.
“The launch of native production of components for fuel assemblies is a crucial step in achieving Ukraine’s strategic goal of strengthening energy security and establishing energy independence. Furthermore, the qualification process for another fuel assembly component – top nozzles for fuel cassettes – is currently underway,” commented Pavlo Kovtonyuk, Head of Energoatom.
As a reminder, Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB has recognized Energoatom’s affiliate – SS “Atomenergomash” as a qualified and approved supplier of nuclear fuel components for VVER FAs. The quality system of Atomenergomash complies with Westinghouse’s standards.
