Energoatom has been standing shoulder to shoulder with defenders throughout the four years of full-scale war

On February 24, 2022, the aggressor country launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, Ukrainians have been holding their ground, and hundreds of thousands of people have left their peaceful lives to defend Ukraine and its citizens.

For four years, NNEGC “Energoatom” has been systematically supporting Ukrainian defenders, allocating more than UAH 18.5 billion to the needs of the front line. The nuclear power plant staff understands well that our strength lies in unity, responsibility, and mutual support.

Among other things, the company has provided the Ukrainian Defense Forces with a Mi-2 helicopter to assist in combat missions. Energoatom has also allocated UAH 300 million to the State Border Guard Service for the purchase of 50 armored personnel carriers for the units of the Offensive Guard.

Furthermore, volunteers actively support Ukrainian defenders at nuclear power plant sites. Due to the efforts of labor collectives, nuclear power professionals are meeting many of the military's needs by supplying drones, vehicles, electronic warfare equipment, satellite systems, and other essential items to the front lines. The contribution of each nuclear power worker to this aid is enormous and extremely important.

In October 2023, on the initiative of NNEGC “Energoatom” employees, the public organization “Guards of Light” was created. It was founded by company volunteers in Kyiv to respond quickly to military requests and systematically provide them with the necessary assistance.

Over time, the organization has expanded to a network of centers in Pivdennoukrainsk, Varash, Slavutych, and Netishyn. Volunteers consistently support units on the front lines, promptly addressing their needs, from technical equipment to everyday essentials.

A separate significant area of activity has been the implementation of a program for the psychological and emotional recovery of military personnel, in cooperation with the Main Directorate for Psychological Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine. Since the program began, more than 13,000 defenders have taken advantage of it.

Since April 2025, the support program has been expanded with the “Family” program, which provides compensation for 50% of the cost of a sanatorium stay for family members of military personnel undergoing emotional recovery. In 2025, 706 families were able to spend time with their heroes.

The “Family Comfort” program was introduced to support the families of military personnel who are missing, captive, or killed in action. As part of the initiative, two ten-day trips to facilities in safe regions of Ukraine were organized. 348 families took advantage of the opportunity to restore their emotional state.

Energoatom and the NGO “Guards of Light” will continue to provide systematic support to military personnel and their families for as long as necessary. After all, while they protect us, we help them.
