JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” continues its systematic work aimed at releasing illegally imprisoned Zaporizhzhia NPP employees and protecting their rights at both national and international levels.

Within the framework of this activity, NNEGC representatives – the Company’s Chief Consultant for Interaction with Public Organizations, Vyacheslav Guba, and Deputy Director General for Personnel of the Zaporizhzhia NPP Oleksii Popov – together with representatives of the public, the Energodar town government, and relatives of the imprisoned employees, took part in an important meeting with officials. Among the participants were the Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornienko; Members of Parliament Yevheniia Kravchuk and Mykyta Poturayev; as well as the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Prisoners of War and Missing Persons, Dmytro Ponomarenko.

During the meeting, specific steps were discussed regarding the preparation of a separate resolution by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to release and support illegally imprisoned nuclear industry employees, as well as the development of mechanisms for their return home. In particular, this concerns the initiative to recognize nuclear industry workers as a separate category of persons in need of special protection and priority release.

In addition, agreements were reached on advocacy on this issue at the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as well as through PACE.

Currently, 37 residents of Energodar (including 14 employees of the Zaporizhzhia NPP) remain in prolonged illegal detention on politically motivated charges.

Energoatom continues to consolidate efforts together with state authorities and the diplomatic corps, strengthening international advocacy for the earliest possible release of its employees and their return home.
