On July 25, in its office, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine officially handed over the permits for performing organizational and administrative functions related to ensuring the nuclear and radiation safety of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, as well as the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF). This stage is part of the company's reorganization, which changes its form of governance from a state-owned enterprise to a joint-stock company.

The licenses were handed over to the head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, Petro Kotin, by the head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine – Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine, Oleh Korikov.

Oleh Korikov noted that the SNRIU team conducted inspections of all nuclear facilities and NPP sites with positive conclusions regarding Energoatom's ability to comply with safety requirements, standards, and regulations, as well as license conditions.

"Obtaining operating licenses under the new status confirms that Energoatom retains its full powers and ensures the continuous operation of nuclear power units. The transformation into a joint-stock company opens up a new level of corporate governance, but does not change our core mission – the safe and stable production of electricity for Ukraine and its citizens," emphasized Petro Kotin.

For reference: changes to the licenses were made under the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Joint-Stock Company “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” and Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1420 of December 29, 2023, “On the Establishment of the Joint-Stock Company “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom.”
