During a working visit to the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant, Petro Kotin, Acting CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, held a production meeting with the plant's management. They discussed key issues in the development of the nuclear industry, in particular, the construction of the Solid Radioactive Waste Treatment and Storage Facility.
The head of NNEGC highlighted that the construction of such a facility is a significant project and a responsibility to our European partners.
Particular emphasis was placed on increasing domestic production of spare parts and equipment for the needs of the nuclear energy sector. According to Petro Kotin, such products were not previously manufactured in Ukraine. Still, as part of the program to replace russian supplies, the transition to domestically produced equipment is already nearing its final stage.
“The localization of the production of critically important spare parts and components necessary for the operation of nuclear power units is one of the company's priorities. This will not only strengthen energy independence, but also give a powerful boost to the Ukrainian machine-building sector thanks to the nuclear industry,” the head of Energoatom stressed.
Another focus is the power unit’s preparation for the autumn-winter period. Petro Kotin noted that all fuel reloading and repair work is being carried out with the proper quality and according to the schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy. "In some cases, we are even achieving better results due to more efficient organization of processes. We guarantee that all nuclear units will operate at full capacity during the heating season," he emphasized.
The head of Energoatom also noted the significant contribution of nuclear power professionals to the preparation for the autumn-winter period, their conscientious performance of professional duties, and presented the specialists with appropriate awards.
