On June 28, on the Constitution Day of Ukraine, the Recruit Honor Race 2026 took place – an event that brought together thousands of participants to collectively honor the dignity and bravery of fallen military and to support those who continue to defend our country every day.
More than 560 Energoatom employees joined the race, completing distances of 5 and 10 kilometers. Along with them, over 50 children of the company staff took to the starting line. For the youngest participants, the distances were shorter – 300, 500, and 1,000 meters. At the same time, the nuclear workers became the largest corporate offline team.
Energoatom became an ideological partner of the event to join in honoring the memory of Ukrainian military who gave their lives for our freedom, and to support those who continue to defend Ukraine today.
For the Energoatom team, this event holds a special significance. Nearly a thousand employees of the company and its separate subdivisions have joined the ranks of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Unfortunately, not everyone has returned home. Among the fallen are 58 nuclear workers who gave the most precious thing for the future of our country.
Meanwhile, those who remained at their workplaces despite the war, shelling, and constant challenges ensure the stable operation of nuclear generation to power millions of Ukrainian households. These people perform their work with honor and great professionalism, understanding its significance for the country.
Oleksandr Ostapovets, Energoatom’s Inspector General, Director for Safety and Acting Member of the Board, addressed the participants of the race. He emphasized that this race is a reminder that freedom requires protection. Every day, it is fought by Ukrainian military, thanks to whom Ukraine remains free. The head also expressed his gratitude to everyone who joined the charitable event.
As noted by Bohdan Shmyhelskyi, Energoatom’s Executive Director for Human Resources, the safe operation of nuclear power plants is the primary task of the company employees. However, during the war, their responsibility does not end at the workplace: daily they support Ukrainian defenders, providing aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine through their own labor, volunteering, and personal contributions.
This is precisely why the Honor Race resonated so deeply within the Energoatom team. It is an opportunity to bow head in memory of the fallen, to thank those who defend Ukraine today with weapons in their hands, and to remind once again: everyone in their place is doing everything in their power for our common victory.
The event has a charitable purpose – 100% of the registration fees are allocated for the needs of The Ukrainian military. For Energoatom’s multi-thousand team, this race is just one of the many ways to support Ukrainian defenders.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the company has directed over UAH 22 billion towards the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Out of this amount, approximately UAH 18 billion went to support units of the National Guard of Ukraine, which protect the native NPPs.
Nuclear employees regularly handover cars, electronic warfare systems, drones, Starlinks, and other equipment necessary for the military to the front lines. All of this is being done to bring peace in Ukraine as quickly as possible!
