On December 9 and 10, 2020, inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) carried out a regular scheduled inspection at Zaporizhzhya NPP. The specialists checked Power Unit 5, which is under a scheduled mid-life outage.

Agency’s inspectors together with an inspector of the SNRIU carried out the inspection, conducted under the International Agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA for the implementation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

The IAEA is the world's only international inspector for nuclear safeguards and control in the field of civil nuclear programs. The purpose of the control is to prevent the transfer of nuclear materials used in facilities located in 70 countries of the planet for military purposes.
