Energoatom and Westinghouse held a joint meeting on AP1000 reactors deployment in Ukraine
To implement the agreements made during the visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States, on September 10, 2021, a meeting of delegations of Energoatom headed by the Company's Acting President Petro Kotin and Westinghouse headed by Elias Gedeon, Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations, took place.
Through the negotiations, the parties discussed further joint actions within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 31, 2021 on cooperation in Westinghouse AP1000 reactors deployment in Ukraine.
They also discussed the preliminary division of responsibilities in joint work, licensing, pre-design works as well as possible sources of funding. Likewise, the parties discussed the key stages of the construction schedule of the first new power unit fulfillment along with the possibility of accelerating the project implementation.
In the long run, US AP1000 technology will enable Energoatom to ensure the reliable operation of nuclear generation and its innovation with the highest level of safety and careful attitude to the environment.
