2020 was an effective and prosperous year for Energoatom – the Company's balance commission
Energoatom's balance commission meeting was held on March 16, during which the Company's outcomes for 2020 were summed up and goals for the present year were defined.
The Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin emphasized that the Company kept operating effectively despite the challenges facing it last year, including the COVID-19 pandemic, balance restrictions placed on nuclear generation as well as discriminatory practices against NNEGC in the energy market. «2020 can be considered an effective and prosperous year for the Company in many respects,» Petro Kotin stressed.
The commissioners made specific mention of the completion of construction works and infrastructure development at the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF) site, the signing of the agreement between Energoatom and Westinghouse on the supply of nuclear fuel for WWER-440 reactors, as well as Rivne NPP power unit 1 and Zaporizhzhya NPP power unit 5 lifetime extension until 2030.
Petro Kotin pointed out that all scheduled activities within the framework of the Complex (Consolidated) Safety Upgrade Program of Power Units of Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plants (CCSUP) are the top priority for implementing until 2023. Among NNEGC’s primary objectives for the near future, the balance commission made note of the commencement of Khmelnytsky NPP power units 3 and 4 construction, SUNPP service water supply system reconstruction, completion of installation works on Tashlyk HPSPP hydraulic power unit 3, creation of data centers near nuclear power plants and finding ways for export of Ukrainian nuclear power to the European Union countries.
Summing up the meeting of the balance commission, the head of Energoatom expressed his conviction that the Company would achieve a positive economic result in 2021 and emphasized it would be possible due solely to effective teamwork.
