Implementing the standards of corporate social responsibility, SE NNEGC "Energoatom" sets its overall goal to maximally increase its contribution to the sustainable development of the society, including all economic, social and environmental aspects of the Company activities.

For the government as much as for the nuclear industry one of the main lessons of the Chernobyl accident, which happened 30 years ago from now, has been and remains an urgent necessity in full and unconditional openness to the society in all aspects of the activities. During the time of its existence the Company has proven that these aspirations can be realized in concrete results. In particular, in 2015 SE NNEGC "Energoatom" was first among the largest public Ukrainian companies according to the transparency index.

We hold the leading positions in real cases of fighting corruption. Thus, in 2015 SE NNEGC "Energoatom" became the first public enterprise which approved the anticorruption program in accordance with the requirements of the new anti-corruption legislation. At present the specified program is not just the next declaratory document but it represents a set of effective rules of virtue, which already form a new corporate culture in the company. Thanks to a fruitful interaction with the international anticorruption organization Transparency International, the Company has managed not only to revise and significantly improve the internal procedures with the aim to prevent corrupt practices, but, mainly, to begin the establishment of a corruption non-acceptance system at the level of consciousness of the Company workers as well as of its counterparts. Of course it requires daily hard work of all, without exception, resources management units. In order to systematize the approaches and identify the optimal points of efforts, the Company has had an anticorruption audit, recommendations whereof have already been realized. Thereby the Compliance Policy of SE NNEGC "Energoatom" has not become another declaration of intent but is really implemented and updated in accordance with current requirements.

The analysis of the events both at Ukrainian nuclear power plants and all over the world demonstrates the growing role of a human factor that makes staffing issues one more key aspects for improvement. After the annexation of the Crimea and afterwards of one of the leading sources of new staffing generation for the atomic industry - Sevastopol University, in the development whereof SE NNEGC "Energoatom" had been engaged for many years, the issues of profession-oriented educational institutions support and the need for more active involvement of Ukrainian students for the formation of the highly professional personnel reserve are of particular importance. Therefore the Company does not only extend the range of educational projects aimed at increasing the awareness of students and schoolchildren about the role and place of atomic generation in the power system of Ukraine, but also makes efforts to attract progressive youth to choose technical disciplines. For this purpose SE NNEGC "Energoatom" together with such world renowned companies as Microsoft, Samsung, Ericsson etc., has become the co-sponsor of the STEM-coalition, which is aimed at improving the quality of technical education in Ukraine.

The relevant personnel issue is the retention of the existing highly qualified staff, including the one in the Company's service subdivisions, in particular, during its future corporatization. This process is the unconditional demand of time, because the Company must develop and build new power capacities, for which it has all possibilities, including the investment and personnel potential. In particular, activities in labour protection, assurance of social guarantees, improving skills etc. are aimed at staff retention.

Training programs for the Company management and for the perspective presidential personnel reserve, which must have a high level of competence and professionalism to ensure stable development and prosperity of the Ukrainian energy, are also oriented on the preparation of SE NNEGC "Energoatom" for new construction and operation in the liberalized Energy Market.

Environmental aspects of the Company activities cover a wide range of issues which begins with the improvement of the personnel and the population environmental awareness, includes continuous safety upgrade of existing power units and other existing facilities, supported by the international community, and is accompanied by the continuous monitoring of the environmental condition, which is constantly improving.

The way to the improvement and development is always difficult. But we have started it and we plan to constantly continue it. It is important for us that the Company activities are in compliance with the best world practice. High safety level of production, support and approval of the labour collectives and the society are of importance for us as well. That is why we will continue to work hard to continuously improve, ensure energy independence and contribute to the development of our state!

Glory to Ukraine!
